SAS Insider
Dear All,
Welcome to the first edition of 'Soccer All Stars Insider' where we will briefly state stuff over the past weeks and evaluate how we feel the league's running.
Firstly I would like to welcome and congratulate all the new managers within the game. A few hello's to also past managers who I have met in the past either at SAS or Football Mania are also a nice thing.
For the majority of you though, SAS will either be your first experience in Fantasy Management or the first time you've managed here.
You'll notice we're a lot different from other leagues in the way we're run and the way we handle things. We would like to say that we're generally very pleased with you all.
We've been very impressed with the amount of quality roleplays and transfers that have taken place in the league and are delighted that many of you have settled into the rhythm so quickly.
We understand that sometimes the emails are coming in thick and fast and this is sometimes a problem. We would like you to read them all but we know this can sometimes be a tad bit difficult.
However we can assure you we get over double the amount of emails you receive and are also experiencing difficulty at times in keeping up.
It's great to get off to a nice start to the season in the Soccer All Stars Exhibition Shield Final. We hoped you enjoyed the game and it lived up to your expectations for the coming season.
We know the match report was quite a lengthy one but we hope that you managed to get through reading it. The weekly and midweekly games will not be anywhere near as long as the special events. This is mainly down to the fact that we don't have that amount of time to spend on each game each week.
As for the roleplaying, we would like to still urge managers to try and leave real quality RP's. We prefer quality (which can even mean just one or two RP's a week) rather than a series of one liners or very small paragraphs.
Generally the new season is shaping up to be an exciting one and I'd like to wish you all the best of luck for the coming season.
There's many things to be won and there are 7 different competitions to win. The SAS Exhibition Shield, The SAS Cup, The SAS Champions Cup and the 4 different divisions within the league. Therefore we will have plenty of winners come the end of the season and this will add in some personal satisfaction to the hard working managers who make us the league we are.
We hope that SAS has a good name and reputation amongst yourselves and other sites. If you had any doubts about us at first or have joined wondering what the fuss was about, we hope that since the SAS Exhibition Shield the good name we have has been justified.
I'd like to briefly mention the RP's and many questions concerning them. A lot of you are asking how we judge them. Obviously we can't tell you how we judge them as it's against the rules. However I would like to squash concerns over personal judging. Everyone has their own opinions but we maintain the policy that we run on a board. Myself and other board members discuss RP's and give our opinions on them justifying our reasons along the way. This makes it fairer for you as it's judged by more than one person.
All I will say to you is that we do like fast, flowing, original and well thought out RP's that don't repeat themselves. We take everything into account including spelling and grammar mistakes. We're not perfect ourselves and are also prone to mistakes and some will say we have no right to determine the quality of RP's.
But if you don't like it don't play basically. I personally got a D & E in my GCSE English results last year. That's obviously terrible and I would like to think that it doesn't reflect my true ability. I hope SAS reflects that too. However, it's common sense to know the difference between a good RP and a poor one.
We do feel, despite being impressed by your RP's that they can get better. Sometimes though we're amazed at the effort you put in. Just remember, you don't always have to have your RP's placed in a press conference... Don't be afraid to try out new locations and places!
I'll finally bring this edition to a close as it's getting a little lengthy ;) by answering the question of: Why don't I manage in another league?
The answer to this is very simple really. a) I don't exactly have the time to manage elsewhere, b) I don't think it's a good idea or fair, due to the fact that I'll RP to what I feel is the best way I would do it. This could alter your opinion on things in SAS and c) I don't think it's a professional thing to do.
Also for all those who seem to be curious of my age and where I live... I'm 17 (just last month) and live in London... I am also male if you hadn't already noticed ;)
Finally, the LEAGUE stars on the 27th of November 1999. NOT this weekend! The weekend after!
Thanks again and till next time,
