- (SEASON ONE/S1)
Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame is a place for the elite managers to hang out. This
section includes all the great managers this league had but are no longer
with us. You have got to be real hardcore to get within a shout of the
Hall of Fame.
JEET PADARUTH - DERBY
COUNTY
Jeet Padaruth's name will be written into the Soccer All stars history
books forever. Padaruth made history at SAS by becoming the first ever
manager to lift the Soccer All Stars Premier Division 1 crown! He'll be
remembered for his childish ways at the beginning of the season. Who said
kids couldn't win the title? When Derby County employed a 17 year old boy
wonder in the managerial hotspot, nobody could have dreamed that almost 30
signings and 30 sales later, Padaruth and his player managerial assistant
Stuart Pearce would snatch a last gasp win over the old enemy Wimbledon
and Alain Borl to take the silverware back to Pride Park. Managers called
for his head, people raised eyebrows as early inconsistency, runs of up to
4 defeats in a row and countless problems for Padaruth threatened to
cripple his dream. However, the kids hard work and perseverance paid off
and The Rams legend swept everybody off their feet with his late and
dramatic league victory! He'll be considered as a top notch RPer by many
who've come across him but perhaps not the best, but nobody can question
Padaruth's incredible commitment over the course of a given season. Week
in week out he's been there producing the goods and the title is just a
reward for his hard work and determination to succeed at the very top.
BUCK HYSEN - BRADFORD
CITY
What can be said about Buck Hysen and his magical winning formula? Earning
himself the respect of literally every individual throughout the Soccer
All Stars league he put fear into the hearts of all by lifting a poor
side, doomed for relegation into a winning machine. Blessed with wonderful
man management, tactical and transfer wisdom, Hysen soon guided his side
to the promise land of the SAS Premier Division 1 and also was the proud
owner and first ever winner of the Soccer All Stars Cup. The most
prestigious trophy in the business and he had his work cut out to win that
too. A series of stunning displays and the epic encounter which saw a
fabulous SAS Cup Semi Final against Brian Thompson's Tottenham Hotspur, in
which Hysen's men emerged victorious after extra time via the golden goals
rule. It was dubbed the best game of all time by many and Hysen after his
win went on from strength to strength to capture the Cup with a win over
Long Ball's formidable Everton. An excellent RPer with an eye for a
bargain, who many will always regard as their candidate for the best
manager around.
BRIAN THOMPSON -
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
When you look around the SAS league there are some truly great managers,
Brian Thompson is one of those. He could be considered as unquestionably
the greatest manager in the business. Taking the realm of Tottenham
Hotspur and transferring them into one of the most amazing sides in the
world, he secured the Division 3 title with ease and a 6-1 drubbing of
Charlton Athletic and Top Gun in the Champions Cup Final made it a double
whammy for Thompson and Co. Top Gun and many who faced him found they
faced the similar consequences... they left as losers. An emphatic season
went from strength to strength and only the defeat at the hands of
Bradford City in the SAS Cup Semi Final could hamper their treble winning
dream - which up until that point was a realistic outcome. Thompson, with
his charismatic and controversial ways may not be everybody's cup of tea,
nor is he an angel when it comes to the higher authorities, but his
qualities speak in volumes and he answers his critics with silverware.
Blessed with fascinating RPing skills, transfer, tactical and perhaps a
little bit of everything good and bad, Brian Thompson is regarded by many
as the best manager in the business and that's not just on SAS terms too.
DJ HUMPHRIES - TOTTENHAM
HOTSPUR
DJ Humphries was possibly the greatest manager is Soccer All Stars
history. Taking the reigns at Tottenham Hotspur he led them to the very
top of the league with his superb RPs, tactical skills and transfer
wisdom. Humphries though was humiliated by the new
SAS Internet Management Team who fired him in a very controversial manner.
Apparently he had violated several rules on his way to the top. DJ was
given a life ban from managing in the SAS Leagues. Had he not been banned from SAS he would
have surely taken a trophy back to White Hart Lane. He was on top and it
looked like that nobody could stop him. However, during October 1999 the new
Executive Board of Soccer All Stars lifted that ban and there is hope that
DJ will return to the world of Fantasy Football and attempt to be one of
the best managers in SAS history all over again. DJ has been sought after
for many months but his disappearance from the internet means we may never
see him finish the job he started.
SIMON GODFREY - CHELSEA
Simon's short spell at Soccer All Stars was a memorable one. His
roleplaying saw Chelsea's fast rise up the table as he looked to be
heading for a head on clash between DJ Humphries of Tottenham for the
title. Simon though quit as manager of Chelsea
after ScreamKing's controversial resignation as Chairman of the League.
Had he not quit his club, Chelsea would have been in for a rosy season.
During his absence from SAS he created his
own Fantasy Football League known as 'Total Football 99' The site though
eventually closed and Simon worked on several other things before
returning to SAS as a board member. Simon's
skills made a name for himself and he was soon promoted to the Board and
took up the SAS Online Manager on the Executive Board. After several
months of hard work he stepped down from his position on the SAS Board and
it's known that he has future plans to take the fantasy football world by
storm with his own version of SAS.
HUGH MILLER - NEWCASTLE
UNITED
Hugh Miller or Himmler as he was well known took to the Soccer All Stars
league well and ran the show with Newcastle United Football Club. His well known love affair for Raul was
evident as his strike partnership with Alan Shearer caused havoc for the
rest of the Soccer All Stars league defences. Himmler brought the best out of his side
and had Shearer hitting the back of the net with Raul on a regular basis
ensuring several victories along the way. His most famous game came against Simon
Godfrey's Chelsea which he lost 3-2 and saw Duncan Ferguson sent off with
Chelsea's Marcel Desailly. Himmler and Newcastle could have
challenged the very best in the league and it would have been surprising
if they left at the end of the season empty handed. There is still hope that Himmler will
return to Soccer All Stars one day and RP his way back to the top where he
belongs. He though, like DJ Humphries has vanished from the internet and
may never again return, however he will be remembered, always...
ANDREW MOORE - WIMBLEDON
Andrew Moore, also known as Buzzer graced the Soccer All Stars league with
Wimbledon Football Club. His strengths were brilliant as he was relatively
unknown as a manager in the beginning. However a number of shrewd signings saw
his side unbeaten as they stormed to the top end of the table and looked
to be in for a bright season. Wimbledon who were always known as the
underdogs of the top leagues in the world looked to be scrapping that tag
under Buzzer. They could have won something by the end
of the season and their form and strength on the pitch warranted that.
It's been rumoured that Buzzer will one
day return to Soccer All Stars although this is known to be later in the
future rather than nearer. If he returns he is sure to once again take any
side and turn them into a world class team.
ORJAN KNUTSEN - ARSENAL
Knutsen, what can we say to describe him? Possibly one of the most charismatic
managers Soccer All Stars and any fantasy football league are likely to
ever see. Knutsen took the helm at Arsenal Football Club and immediately
used his transfer wisdom to chop and change his squad. An outspoken and at
times simply mad character was a huge hit with the rest of the footballing
world. Never afraid to speak his mind his wild and wicked ways often
landed him in trouble with the authorities. Such was Knutsen's skill, he
was soon removed from his Arsenal post and made President of Soccer All
Stars. His initial rise was a good one and he led the site at times
remarkably well. He'll never be forgotten as a board member or a manager
and there's only one way to do things in his mind, the Knutsen way. There
is still major hope that he will return to the fantasy scene and one day
this is a possibility. For now though Knutsen will remain in the heart and
soul of every SAS fan, such was his drive, passion and determination. A
natural born winner and he'll be a major threat to all the big boys if he
ever returns.
