Championship History
At the end of each season a brief report will be
displayed here on how the League and Cups were won and lost!
This will then provide an in-depth report of
how the seasons progressed here at SAS!
In November 1999 Soccer All Stars
announced their return to the fantasy internet management industry with
the SAS Exhibition Shield Final which took place on the 14th of November
1999. Two randomly selected teams took part to
kick the season off. Both Manchester United and Newcastle United took
centre stage at the new National Internet Stadium. Paul Hendrie and Josh Colley made their
debuts as managers at SAS. Hendrie had the luxury of Premier Division 1
side Manchester United whilst Colley had the task of winning with his
Premier Division 4 side Newcastle. The Final was an incredibly exciting one
with non stop action and goals. The result ended 4-3 to Manchester United
but the main talking point which will be remembered forever by those that
were there, was the invasion of a Manchester United fan onto the field of
play. The streaker who was later named as Lewis Burtold got in the way of
a goal bound shot from Newcastle's Alan Shearer in the dieing minutes of
the game. United though ended up with the victory and the Shield as
debutant Deon Burton snatched the vital goal right at the end of the 90
minutes. Emotions ran high with the drama that took
place and although a replay was a realistic choice, the SAS Executive
Board decided to compensate Newcastle instead with cash and Manchester
United and Paul Hendrie made history by becoming the first team and
manager to win anything in SAS.
